Impression Components and Technique Considerations

Making an Implant Level Impression: The use of an Impression Reamer on a guide pin may be necessary to widen the site for the insertion of the impression post. The impression post must be tapped into the well of the implant to ensure that it is fully seated. Once the impression post is seated, an impression is made. After recording the impression, remove the impression post from the implant (the impression post should not come out with the impression). Assemble the impression post and the implant analog, and then seat the unit into the impression. Before pouring impression in dental stone, pour a soft tissue model.

• The use of a metal or plastic implant analog is at the discretion of the technician. If it is anticipated that the implant analog will be used in conjunction with any soldering techniques, a metal implant analog must be used.

• When using a metal implant analog, the titanium abutment must be tapped into the analog to ensure proper axial positioning.
