Additions to Existing IAC

1. Roughen the polyceramic material with a micro-diamond bur.

2. Clean with 95% ethyl alcohol and air dry.

3. Apply Ceramo-Coupler and allow to air dry.

4. Apply modeling liquid, light cure, and add appropriate material.

5. Light cure and, if necessary, add additional material and light cure again. Polish.

6. Modified Integrated Abutment Crown.

Keys to Success

  • For additions, use the appropriate shade of DiamondCrown™ Enamel.
  • Pat to flatten the DiamondCrown™ material to prevent entrapment of air bubbles in the material.
  • Although any composite resin may be used for additions, the appropriate shade of DiamondCrown™ Enamel is recommended.
  • Use of a translucent shade will facilitate achieving an aesthetic result when adding to an anterior interproximal contact.

Reason for Repairs and Bonding Chairside

  • Addition of an interproximal or occlusal contact
  • Alteration of crown contour
  • Joining or splinting to adjacent units

Please note that for the chairside application the following light curing devices and times are most appropriate:

Halogen Lights
DiamondLite Fotokur F/X 100v-250v - DRM
Optilux 501 - Kerr/Demetron
Visilux - 3M
PrismaLite - LD Caulk / Dentsply
Translux - Heraeus / Kulzer

Requirements:
Min. 500mW / cm2
400-550nm wavelength range
30-40 sec. exposure per 2-3 mm layer

Xenon Plasma Arc Lights

DiamondPlasma - DRM
KCP 1000-PAC - American Dental Technologies

Requirements:
600-2,400mW/cm2
430-500nm
10 sec. exposure per 2-3 mm layer

Keys to Success

  • Efficacy of curing light should be confirmed periodically according to the manufacturers’ specifications.
  • The use of the DiamondLite™ VLC/IR Digital-dual range radiometer will assess the efficacy of the halogen light bulb.
  • Most bulbs have a lifespan of 75 hours.
