Impression Reamer

Impression Reamer

The impression reamer will facilitate the removal of excess bone over the shoulder of a deeply placed implant allowing room for the proper seating of an impression post.

1. Insert a 2.0 or 3.0mm guide pin into the well of the implant.

2. Assemble a threaded knob or straight handle onto either the 2.0 or 3.0mm impression reamer (260-101-452 or 260-101-453). The size of the impression reamer is dictated by the well size of the implant. Slide the impression reamer over the guide pin.

3. Rotate the impression reamer while pressing it toward the alveolar crest. The rotating and pressing motion should continue until all bony and soft tissue interferences have been removed. There is a stop on the guide pin to prevent excessive bone from being removed and/or damage being done to the implant.

4. Remove the impression reamer and guide pin and tap the appropriate impression post into the well of the implant for the making of an implant level impression.

Notes: Although an impression reamer could be routinely used for all implant level impressions, its use is only necessary when tissue prevents complete seating of the impression post into the implant well.
