Bicon Institute Faculty

Each Bicon Institute faculty member has placed or restored a significant number of Bicon Implants. Most are also experienced with other implant systems; however, their preference is to use the Bicon System because of its simplicity and unmatched clinical capabilities.

Faculty

Dr. Vincent J. MorganDr. Vincent J. Morgan: Vincent J. Morgan, DMD, a 1970 graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, leads Bicon’s prosthetic team at his private group practice, the Implant Dentistry Centre in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Morgan is responsible for many of the restorative innovations of the Bicon Dental Implant System, such as the revolutionary screwless and cementless Integrated Abutment Crown™ (IAC) implant restoration, and TRINIA™ metal-free CAD/CAM prosthetics. After placing his first implants in 1970 and years of implant experience with many different systems, he was part of a group that purchased the Bicon Implant System from Stryker Instruments in 1994. Currently he serves as president of Bicon, LLC. Along with other clinicians at the Implant Dentistry Centre, Doctor Morgan teaches the innovative techniques of the Bicon System including the immediate placement and loading of Bicon implants, the extra-oral cementation of implant crowns, the Integrated Abutment Crown™ (IAC), TRINIA™ metal-free CAD/CAM prosthetics, and telescopic restorations using retentive copings. He is the editor of The Bicon Short Implant: A Thirty-Year Perspective, published by Quintessence Publishing in 2017.

 

Dr. Muneki HirayamaDr. Muneki Hirayama: Muneki Hirayama, DMD, a 1994 graduate of Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, completed his Advanced Education in General Dentistry in 1995. After a few years as a faculty member at the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, he joined the Implant Dentistry Centre. Dr. Hirayama is a Clinical Instructor at the Bicon Institute in Boston, and the Managing Director of Bicon Japan. He is also a co-author of The Bicon Short Implant: A Thirty-Year Perspective.

 

Dr. John MorganDr. John Morgan: John Morgan, DDS, a 1987 graduate of Howard University College of Dentistry, earned his certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 1991, where he served as the Chief Resident from 1990-1991. He is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), the American Dental Association (ADA), the Massachusetts Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Massachusetts Dental Society, and a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS). In addition to being a clinician at the Implant Dentistry Centre in Boston, he is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine. He also practices at Concord and Lexington Oral Surgery Associate, is an active member of the staff at Emerson Hospital, and is a part-time attending faculty member at Boston Medical Center. He is also a co-author of The Bicon Short Implant: A Thirty-Year Perspective.

 

Dr. Katherine MorganDr. Katherine Morgan: Katherine Morgan, DMD, a 1978 graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, practices at the Implant Dentistry Centre in Boston and is a Clinical Instructor at the Bicon Institute. Dr. Katherine is a co-author of “Retrospective Analysis of an Implant System” in the July 1999 Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry, as well as a co-author of The Bicon Short Implant: A Thirty-Year Perspective.

 

Dr. Laura MurckoDr. Laura Murcko: Laura Murcko, DMD, is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, and the Denver Veterans Administration General Practice Dental Residency Program. She is a Fellow in the International College of Dentists, and the Pierre Fauchard Honorary Dental Society. During her tenure with the Academy of General Dentistry, she served nationally as Spokesperson, member of Public Relations Council, co-Chairperson of their annual meeting in Denver, as well as President of their Colorado chapter. She served on the editorial board for PennWell's Woman Dentist Journal, and is a former President of the American Association of Women Dentists (AAWD). Dr. Murcko practiced dentistry in Colorado until 2009, when she joined the Implant Dentistry Centre in Boston. She is a Clinical Instructor at the Bicon Institute, and a co-author of The Bicon Short Implant: A Thirty-Year Perspective.

 

Dr. Drauseo SperattiDr. Drauseo Speratti: Drauseo Speratti, BDS, DMD, a 1994 graduate of the Universidade Metodista, received his Specialist Certification in Dental Implants and Oral Minor Surgeries from the Universidade Camilo Castelo Branco de Sao Paulo in 1996. Dr. Speratti was in private practice in Sao Paulo, Brazil for several years prior to coming to the United States in 2001 and earning his DMD from Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine-Arizona. He is an active member of the American Academy of Osseointegration (AO), Chicago Dental Society and American Dental Association (ADA). Dr. Speratti is a Clinical Assistant Professor in charge of the implant program at Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine in Downers Grove, IL. He has been a Clinical Instructor at the Bicon Institute in Boston since 2001, and he is a co-author of The Bicon Short Implant: A Thirty-Year Perspective.

 

Dr. Peter ChaloupkaDr. Peter Chaloupka: Peter Chaloupka, DMD, a 1986 graduate of Comenius University in Bratislava, served as an assistant doctor at Leipzig University between 1986-1989. In 1992 he founded his private practice in Garching bei München, Germany. Currently he manages his private practice, which is limited to dental implantology and endodontics. He is also a co-author of The Bicon Short Implant: A Thirty-Year Perspective.

 

DDr. Rolf EwersDDr. Rolf Ewers: Rolf Ewers, MD, DMD, PhD, a 1971 graduate of the University Medical Center Freiburg in Freiburg, Germany, spent his first year of surgical residency at the Downstate University Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, in 1973 prior to continuing his training as a Cranio-Maxillofacial and Oral Surgeon, and finishing with his PhD in Freiburg, Germany. For 9 years (1980-1989), he was the Deputy Chairman of the University Hospital for Oral-Maxillofacial Surgery in Kiel, Germany. Currently DDr. Ewers is Chairman of the Cranio-Maxillofacial (CMF) Implant Institute Vienna, Austria, which he has served since 1994, and Chairman of the University Hospital of Cranio-Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery in Vienna, Austria, which he has served since 1989. He has received numerous honors and awards, such as the W. Harry Archer Award of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (ACOMS) in 1989, and the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation Research Recognition Award in 2005 by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS). DDr. Ewers specializes in traumatology, reconstructive oral and maxillofacial surgery, deformity surgery, bone augmentation in pronounced bone atrophy, preprosthetic surgery, and implantology. His medical research includes the development of bone graft materials using porous hydroxyapatite materials out of natural marine algae and inductive proteins; the development of 3-D reconstruction models using stereolithography; the first clinical use of intraoperative navigation using augmented reality and the Virtual Patient Systems (VPS) by Michael Truppe, and the first interactive live tele-operations with these systems; and the first use of 4.0 x 5.0mm Bicon SHORT® Implants and metal-free synthetic pontic restorations made of fiber-reinforced resin with the CAD/CAM method. He also designed the Camlog Guide System. He has made contributions to hundreds of publications, including the books: Oral and Implant Surgery: Principles and Procedures (2009) of which he is a co-author, Oral Implants: Bioactivating Concepts (2013) of which he is a co-editor, and The Bicon Short Implant: A Thirty-Year Perspective (2017) of which he is a co-author.

 

Dr. Mauro MarincolaDr. Mauro Marincola: Professor Marincola, MD, DMD, a 1988 graduate of Sapienza University in Rome, Italy, specializes in implantology and dental prosthetics. He received his Master’s degree in Stomatology from the Center of Research and Post-Graduate Studies, Rome and his title of Specialist in Implantology from the Order of Physicians and Dentists in Koblenz, Germany. Dr. Marincola serves as a Clinical Director of the International Center of Oral Implantology (ICOI), and visiting professor at the University of Cartagena, Colombia. Dr. Marincola is a Scientific Research Coordinator for Bicon, Boston, Massachusetts. Additionally, he is a co-developer of innovative surgical and restorative techniques for the Bicon Implant System with Vincent Morgan, DMD. Dr. Marincola is a co-author of numerous scientific articles in international dental journals as well as a co-author of The Bicon Short Implant: A Thirty-Year Perspective. He lectures extensively worldwide on dental implants.

 

Paolo Angelo Perpetuini, MDT Paolo Angelo Perpetuini, MDT: Angelo “Paolo” Perpetuini, a 1982 graduate of IPSIA Edmondo de Amicis Roma in Rome, Italy, is a Master Dental Technician (MDT) who maintains a dental laboratory in Rome, Italy. With Vincent Morgan, DMD, Paolo is responsible for the development of the Integrated Abutment Crown (IAC)™ in 1999, and many of the techniques associated with the metal-free CAD/CAM restorative material, TRINIA™. Especially notable are his techniques for TRINIA telescopic restorations using prefabricated milled retentive copings. He is also a co-author of The Bicon Short Implant: A Thirty-Year Perspective.
